MATERIAL GROUP
Nickel and nickel-based alloys
Alloy, Monel, Incoloy, Hastelloy and Nimonic series, commercially pure nickel and Invar 36 for controlled expansion. Explore each material against its environment and delivery condition.
There is no single nickel-alloy behaviour
Chemical media drive process-alloy selection; creep and ageing matter for turbine materials; dimensional stability drives low-expansion Fe-Ni selection. A common commercial family name does not make these requirements equivalent. Commercially pure nickel, nickel-copper and age-hardenable superalloys need separate assessment.
How to define delivery condition
625 and 718, or 800H and 800HT, differ by more than a number. Heat treatment, grain structure and product specifications can affect service behaviour. Send the delivery condition and tests with the alloy name, form and dimensions.
