The temperature range of an expansion coefficient
Low expansion should not be read as one constant number valid at every temperature. Consider the measurement interval, material condition and required tolerance together. For tooling or precision fixtures, define expansion requirements over the actual operating range instead of relying solely on room-temperature tensile strength.
Machining sequence and stabilisation
Rough machining, stress relief and final sizing may be separate stages. The objective is not merely machinable starting stock but a component that retains its dimensions in use. Heat treatment and dimensional acceptance should therefore be planned together; low expansion does not provide stainless behaviour or surface protection.
Read UNS references with the specification
K93600, K93601 and K93603 appear in different producer or specification records and should not be accepted as unconditional substitutes. Define the identity, product form, expansion testing and documentation. ASTM F1684, sometimes cited on older drawings, is withdrawn; its revision and acceptance requirements need explicit agreement when referenced.
Typical application areas
Precision fixtures, measuring components, composite tooling, optical and mechanical parts.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request 1.3912 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
