Start with the working conditions
Temperature and mechanical loads are considered together for thermal process equipment, turbine auxiliary parts and heat-exchanger components. Define delivery condition and required certificates at quotation.
Define load, temperature and time together
Oxidation resistance and retaining shape under sustained load are different requirements for hot process equipment. Specify peak temperature, cycles and time at temperature as well as normal operation. Fatigue, surface and dimensional acceptance may instead govern a pump shaft or auxiliary mechanical component. Parts in the same plant do not necessarily need the same grade.
- Continuous or cyclic duty and temperature range
- Component loading and observed damage mechanism
- Welding, machining and final heat-treatment sequence
Grades to explore
These grades are starting points for discussion, not a substitute for project-specific material selection.
