Spring force involves more than tensile strength
A spring’s initial strength and the force it retains over time at temperature are different considerations. Stress relaxation, exposure time, operating stress and prior cold work must be assessed together. Sharing these conditions alongside the X-750 designation helps define the required material condition and testing expectations.
Heat treatment depends on form
Bar, sheet and spring wire do not follow one identical heat-treatment specification. Equalising, solution treatment and ageing steps vary with the application. Distinguish treatments required during fabrication from those performed by the supplier, and establish which stage the material certificate and its properties represent.
Long-product and flat-product specifications
AMS 5667 illustrates a long-product specification with a defined treatment condition, while AMS 5542 concerns flat products. These numbers do not jointly apply to every X-750 form. Dimensions, delivery condition, surface, tests and traceability require separate definition. Oxidation resistance must not replace acceptance criteria for sustained loading.
Typical application areas
Spring and fastener materials, turbine hardware and hot-service mechanical components.

Frequently asked questions
Can I request 2.4669 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
