Comparing C-22 with C-276
The higher chromium content of C-22 matters in oxidising environments, while the different molybdenum balance of C-276 may be relevant in other processes. Selection cannot rest on one element percentage. Define acid type, concentration, temperature, mixtures and crevice features such as gasket interfaces or deposits together.
Welded and formed components
Good weldability does not mean that weld metal will behave identically to the base material in every environment. Heat input, surface cleanliness and forming strain require assessment. A stress-relief cycle used for carbon steel should not be transferred directly to C-22; the final metallurgical condition must support the corrosion requirement.
Product form and material identity
ASTM B574 for rod and bar and ASTM B575 for sheet and plate are example product specifications. Pipe, forgings and fittings need their own acceptance scopes. Include UNS N06022, dimensions, condition and documentation. C-22HS is a different material designation; similar trade names or unrelated AMS numbers should not be treated as automatic equivalents.
Typical application areas
Chemical reactors, heat exchangers, columns, waste treatment and process piping.

- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request 2.4602 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
