SOLID-SOLUTION ALLOY

Alloy 230 / 2.4733 Nickel Alloy

Alloy 230 is a nickel–chromium–tungsten–molybdenum alloy for high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance. It serves turbine combustion parts, hot-gas ducts and furnace internals, including equipment carrying loads during prolonged heating.

The distinctive composition of 230

Tungsten is a prominent addition to the nickel–chromium composition of 230. Tungsten and molybdenum support hot strength, while chromium contributes to surface protection. The alloy therefore serves both hot-gas surfaces and mechanically loaded hot components.

Heat combined with sustained load

Creep is gradual deformation under load at elevated temperature. It is important in turbines and industrial heating equipment. Alloy 230 is known for sustained-temperature strength, complemented by oxidation resistance at the hot-gas surface.

Applications from turbines to furnaces

Turbine applications include combustion chambers, transition ducts and flame holders. Furnace retorts, baskets, supports and thermocouple sheaths are other examples, along with high-temperature exchangers in chemical processing.

Distinction from other hot-service alloys

230 is distinct from 617 and Alloy X, with tungsten among its notable compositional differences. It is identified by 2.4733 and N06230. Shared hot-service applications do not remove these separate grade identities.

Typical application areas

Turbine combustion parts, hot-gas ducts, thermocouple sheaths and furnace hardware.
