Describe the seawater conditions
Marine material selection should consider flow, stagnant regions, deposits and crevice geometry together. A pump shaft does not experience the same conditions as a pipe interior or a gasket interface. General corrosion resistance does not establish suitability for every seawater design without assessment.
Choosing between 400 and K-500
Monel 400 can gain strength through cold work, whereas the different chemistry of K-500 enables age hardening. Specifying greater hardness cannot turn one into the other. The magnetic behaviour of Monel 400 at room temperature can also vary between heats; sensitive instrumentation requires a separately defined magnetic requirement.
Annealed or stress relieved?
The starting condition must support machining, forming and final component strength requirements. ASTM B164 covers rod, bar and wire, while ASTM B127 concerns flat products. Define form, dimensions, annealing or cold-work condition and documentation together. A bar specification alone does not establish acceptance for pipe or a finished connection.
Typical application areas
Pump and valve components, marine shafts, process piping and connections.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request 2.4360 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
