Define more than the acid name
Selecting 625 for a process requires the acid concentration, temperature, contaminants and crevice geometry as well as the acid type. Flowing and stagnant seawater also create different conditions. General corrosion resistance does not establish identical performance in every environment or unconditional equivalence with other nickel alloys.
Annealed and solution-annealed options
Wet-corrosion and high-temperature applications may require different delivery conditions. Grade 1 and Grade 2 designations should be read with the relevant product specification. Prolonged thermal exposure can change the microstructure; the absence of a required ageing treatment does not mean the material is unaffected by all thermal exposure.
Plan cutting and machining
Work hardening affects tool selection and forming steps. Cut-piece dimensions should include machining allowance and surface requirements. ASTM B446 for rod and bar and ASTM B443 for flat products are examples; the enquiry must also define form, metallurgical condition and documentation. A welding-wire specification does not replace a base-material specification.
Typical application areas
Process piping, marine equipment, heat-exchanger hardware and hot-gas components.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request 2.4856 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
