Measure across flats
The principal hexagon-bar dimension is the distance between opposite parallel faces. Across-corners size is different. If the finished component retains stock wrenching faces, include finish and tolerance requirements in the enquiry.
Consider machine and material together
Delivered length, straightness and section tolerance matter for bar feeding, clamping and toolpaths. Even when machinability is prioritised, welding and corrosive-service needs remain separate considerations.
