From sheet fabrication to final condition
Forming and welding need not be the stage at which final strength is achieved. Solution-treated material can provide starting stock for fabrication, with final ageing planned separately. Define which treatments belong to the supplier or fabricator and which condition the tests must represent.
Ductility and hot-loading requirements
Required ductility in welded hardware must be assessed with geometry and service loading. Age hardenability does not establish identical suitability for every welded design. Thickness, deformation, heat input and final treatment require an appropriate procedure. Oxidation data or short-time tensile results do not replace acceptance for prolonged service.
Different AMS routes for long and flat products
AMS 5886 illustrates solution-treated bar, forging and ring products, while AMS 5872 concerns solution-treated flat products. Sharing an alloy identity does not extend either number to every form. Specify dimensions, revision, delivery condition, surface and tests to avoid confusing different scopes under similar material names.
Typical application areas
Welded hot sheet-metal structures, combustion hardware, turbine-area and thermal components.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request 2.4650 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
