Select for the load-bearing section
6082 is considered when strength is a governing requirement for a profile or machined part. Differences from 6060 extend beyond name or price to surface appearance, section geometry and processing behaviour. Include load direction, connection points and final dimensions in selection. Changing to another 6xxx alloy requires drawing and specification review even if the section remains unchanged.
Stock condition and material removal
State T6, T651 or T6511 with the product form. Do not combine delivery and mechanical requirements for plate and extruded bar. Separating machining allowance, rough-cut dimensions and finished tolerance makes the request clearer. If asymmetric material removal from a large section is planned, include the machining sequence and stress-relief expectations; the condition name alone does not guarantee dimensional stability.
Welding and anodising expectations
Weldability does not mean the original T6 strength remains around the weld. The heat-affected zone and subsequent processing belong in the design assessment for load-bearing parts. Anodising capability should not be interpreted as an identical decorative result across alloys. Include product standard, dimensions, temper and surface target in the request, and define inspection documentation or additional testing before ordering. Assembly conditions can also be shared.
Typical application areas
Machine supports, connection blocks, structural sections.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request 3.2315 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
