UNS R50550 - Family
- Commercially pure titanium
The grade number represents a material choice
Grade 3 is considered when higher mechanical properties than Grade 2 are required while retaining a commercially pure titanium composition. That increase does not imply a corresponding improvement in formability. A thin bent part and a machined load-bearing component have different priorities. Substitution with Grade 2 or Grade 4 should not rest solely on their shared commercially pure designation.
Annealed condition and forming
Plan bending and forming around section thickness, rolling direction and delivery condition. Annealing or stress relief does not mean this grade hardens through precipitation ageing. Welding needs titanium-appropriate cleanliness and shielding. For bar used in a machined part, specify surface condition, straightness and machining allowance alongside stock dimensions; state the finished component tolerance separately.
Define the technical scope of the request
Include Grade 3 and UNS R50550 together with form, dimensions, quantity and the governing product standard. AMS 4900 is an example for flat products; bars require their own specification. In process equipment, environment and temperature matter alongside strength requirements. Agree inspection documentation, additional testing and traceability expectations before ordering to establish a clearer quotation scope.
Typical application areas
Process components, plate parts, machined mechanical elements.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request 3.7055 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
