PALLADIUM-BEARING TITANIUM

Ti Grade 7 / 3.7235 Titanium

A palladium-bearing titanium grade considered for corrosion performance in more demanding process environments. Selection must follow actual operating conditions, including fluid composition and temperature.

A higher number serves a different purpose

The key distinction from Grade 2 is palladium’s contribution to performance in certain corrosive conditions. A higher grade number does not mean greater structural strength than Grade 5. Assess strength, forming and exposure requirements separately. A request for Grade 7 instead of Grade 2 should be justified by the actual corrosion demands of the process rather than their similar mechanical properties.

Describe the operating environment

Chemical species and concentration, temperature, flow, stagnant conditions and connections that can create crevices influence selection. Broad descriptions such as seawater or acid resistance are insufficient. Include cleaning and shutdown conditions too. Welding and surface preparation must retain titanium’s cleanliness and shielding requirements; any specific filler selection or processing procedure requires separate definition.

Connections also need a product specification

For tube, plate, bar or flange requests, state dimensions, delivery condition and inspection requirements alongside Grade 7 and UNS R52400. ASTM B348/B348M is an example for bars and billets; it does not alone establish a flange pressure class or tube manufacturing requirements. Build the request around both the project’s material and dimensional standards.

Typical application areas

Chemical-process components, heat-exchanger parts, corrosive-service connections.

What to specify in your enquiry

  • Grade designation and applicable material standard
  • Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
  • Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements

Frequently asked questions

Can I request 3.7235 in cut lengths?+

Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.

Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+

Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
