Which identity is required for 255?

Commercial 255 references can include S32520 and S32550. Ferralium 255 is associated with S32550; the two UNS codes are not unconditional synonyms. Where dual conformity is requested, verify that the actual product certificate meets the chemical and mechanical requirements of the relevant specifications.

Environment in super duplex selection

High chromium and molybdenum with copper are considered for demanding process media. The super duplex label does not establish suitability for every chloride level or temperature. Assess fluid, crevices, deposits, velocity and welded regions together.

Product form changes acceptance

A forged flange is different from a ring cut from plate. Specify product standard, required UNS identity, delivery condition and tests alongside diameter, wall or thickness. For replacement parts, provide the full drawing and certificate designation rather than relying solely on a short trade label such as F255.

Typical application areas

Chemical-process parts, pump and valve components, marine-system equipment.
