PRECISION IN MATERIAL. CLARITY IN SUPPLY.

DUPLEX / SUPER DUPLEX

329 / 1.4460 Stainless Steel

A duplex stainless grade combining ferritic and austenitic phases. Enquiries under the 329 trade name should distinguish EN and UNS specification requirements.

329 and 2205 are different materials

329 and 2205 belong to the duplex family but do not share identical chemistry limits or post-weld behaviour. Tensile strength alone is insufficient when changing grades. For replacement parts in existing plant, review the previous designation, welding need and fluid conditions together.

Clarify EN and UNS identity

The EN composition of 1.4460 is not automatically identical to S32900 limits sometimes shown under the same commercial heading. State any specified UNS code separately. Defining the governing certificate specification provides a more accurate purchasing description than relying on the 329 name alone.

Processing affects phase balance

Welding, hot forming and final heat treatment can influence duplex phase structure. Do not directly transfer a procedure from another duplex grade. Include the environment, welding plan and required tests with bar or pipe enquiries so that grade and delivery condition can be assessed together.

Typical application areas

Pump and shaft parts, process components and replacement equipment parts.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request 1.4460 in cut lengths?+

Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
