The role of low carbon in welded components
Low carbon helps reduce susceptibility to chromium carbide precipitation associated with welding heat. Welding procedure, heat tint and final surface cleaning still matter. The L designation does not mean that every welded joint will deliver identical corrosion performance in every environment.
The environment of the machined component
A dry fastener and a mixer shaft exposed to cleaning chemicals have different service conditions. Describe the fluid, temperature, cleaning regime and whether liquid remains on the surface. Where chloride exposure or corrosion demands increase, include alternatives such as 316L in the comparison and recheck project requirements before changing a specified grade.
Typical application areas
Food equipment, tanks, general machine components.

Frequently asked questions
Can I request 1.4307 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
