Starting condition determines the processing route
Solution-treated Condition A and cold-worked Condition C are not the same starting point. TH, RH and CH conditions should not be read as different spellings of one ageing treatment. Forming reduction and component geometry must be considered alongside the appropriate final condition.
Thin sections may have different acceptance requirements
A mechanical value stated for sheet or strip may not apply directly to bar or forgings. Thickness and specimen geometry particularly affect elongation assessment. Spring behaviour is not governed by hardness alone; repeated loading, forming history and residual stresses also matter.
State the delivery condition when ordering strip
AMS 5528 describes solution-treated flat products, while AMS 5529 addresses solution-treated and cold-rolled sheet and strip. Include thickness, surface, starting condition and intended final condition. Simply listing these designations together does not define one interchangeable product.
Typical application areas
Spring elements, diaphragms, thin-section aerospace components.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request 17-7 PH in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
