What low carbon does here

410S is not selected for hardened wear components in the same way as 410. Low carbon limits hardening tendency after thermal exposure and creates a different fabrication starting point. Substituting 410S on a drawing with a hardness requirement is therefore more than a change of name.

Define the weld fabrication

Lower hardening tendency does not remove the need for a welding procedure. Thickness, grain growth, joint geometry and environment are assessed together. Include planned bending, welding and surface treatment in the material request.

What information helps a quotation?

Send the 410S and S41008 designation with product form, thickness or diameter, length and quantity. Corrosive service also requires fluid and temperature information. Specifying the surface condition and material standard helps prevent confusion with visually similar chromium grades.

Typical application areas

Process sheet, welded parts and thermal-equipment components.

Product and cutting options

Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.

What to specify in your enquiry

  • Grade designation and applicable material standard
  • Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
  • Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements

Frequently asked questions

Can I request 1.4000 in cut lengths?+

Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.

Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+

Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
