Properties of 1.4114
1.4114 is a ferritic stainless steel containing approximately 18% chromium and an addition of molybdenum. Sulfur supports machinability, particularly in small components. Designated X6CrMoS19-2, it differs from general-purpose 430 in both molybdenum and sulfur content. This composition is associated with mechanical applications where corrosion resistance matters alongside ease of machining.
It is different from 430F
430F / 1.4105 is another sulfur-bearing ferritic stainless steel, but its molybdenum range is lower. The higher chromium and molybdenum ranges of 1.4114 define a separate composition. Its sulfur addition still means that the corrosion behaviour of low-sulfur molybdenum-bearing grades should not be assumed. Both grades are principally associated with machining applications.
Ferritic structure and hardening behaviour
The ferritic structure is magnetic. Unlike martensitic 420, 1.4114 is not hardened by quenching, although cold deformation can affect its mechanical properties. Turned components are a more natural application than welded bodies. The ranges below apply at room temperature to annealed (+A) long products up to 100 mm under FD A35-570:1996; they do not apply automatically to other delivery conditions.
| Property | Value |

| Proof strength Rp0.2 | ≥ 240 MPa |
| Elongation A | ≥ 14% |
Its relationship with the name XM-34
XM-34 / S18200 is encountered in producer and specification tables for related ferritic free-machining steels. Sulfur and other limits can differ between product specifications. This page follows the identity 1.4114 / X6CrMoS19-2 rather than treating every XM-34 product as an exact match. Its chemistry table likewise does not merge limits from different specifications.
Typical application areas
Small fittings, bushes and turned mechanical components.
