Start with the working conditions
Material selection for medical equipment depends on intended use and the relevant specification. General stainless grade designations do not establish implant suitability or biocompatibility approval.
Define the equipment component’s intended use
Cleaning equipment, auxiliary mechanical parts and body-contact products have different acceptance requirements. Selection needs intended use, sterilisation or cleaning cycles, surface requirements and the governing product specification. A hardened cutting component and a corrosion-demanding process part may need different grades and processing. General industrial grade information does not establish device or implant compliance.

Grades to explore
These grades are starting points for discussion, not a substitute for project-specific material selection.
