Start with the working conditions
For filling lines, mixer shafts, tank connections and process components, product contact, cleaning chemicals and surface requirements must be assessed together.
Assess product contact and cleaning together
In food equipment, cleaning conditions matter alongside the product in contact with the material. Temperature, chemical concentration, holding time and rinsing change the surface environment. Define final roughness, weld areas and fluid-retaining crevices for a machined shaft or connection. A grade number alone does not replace hygienic design or application-specific compliance.
- Product and cleaning chemicals, temperature and rinsing
- Final surface roughness and post-weld cleaning
- Product-contact surfaces and required documentation
Grades to explore
These grades are starting points for discussion, not a substitute for project-specific material selection.
