PRECISION IN MATERIAL. CLARITY IN SUPPLY.

MARTENSITIC

420 / 1.4034 Stainless Steel

A higher-carbon martensitic stainless steel designated X46Cr13, considered for hardened components. It is not the same grade as 440B; heat treatment and product standard must be confirmed.

Wear and cutting-surface requirements

This martensitic grade, designated X46Cr13, is considered where hardened-state hardness and wear performance matter. A high-hardness requirement does not remove toughness and corrosion requirements. Define the working surface geometry and acceptance condition alongside material identity.

Final surface and correct designation

A bright supplied bar alone does not establish the suitability of a finished cutting edge. Heat treatment, grinding, polishing and cleaning belong in the process plan. State 1.4034 explicitly and distinguish it from 440B and other 420 variants. Where hardness is specified, define the method and condition of measurement.

Typical application areas

Cutting parts, wear components, industrial equipment.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request 1.4034 in cut lengths?+

Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.

Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+

Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
