Read the strengthening mechanism correctly
Nitronic 60 does not age-harden like PH stainless steels. High-strength commercial conditions may be produced through special thermomechanical processing. Welding or hot working can alter these properties; stock data measured before subsequent processing should not be used directly for the completed component.
The contact pair matters as much as the grade
Galling can progress through local adhesion and material transfer during movement. Assess mating surface, contact load, lubrication and finish together. A laboratory wear comparison should not be read as an allowable load for every valve or connection design.
Include motion and environmental requirements
State product form, dimensions, delivery condition and the mating material. AMS 5848 is one example covering specified products including bar and mechanical tubing; it cannot automatically be transferred to plate. Nitronic 60’s galling benefit does not remove the need to assess corrosion suitability for the operating fluid.
Typical application areas
Valve stems and bearing surfaces, threaded connections, sliding-contact components.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request Nitronic 60 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
