Annealed and high-strength delivery
Commercial labels such as HS or SHS generally describe conditions achieved by cold or warm deformation. They are not PH ageing conditions such as H900. Welding and subsequent thermal processing can change the strength gained through deformation; specify size range and mechanical requirements alongside the producer’s condition name.
It does not perform the same role as Nitronic 60
Nitronic 50 addresses strength and corrosion requirements within an austenitic structure. When galling resistance in sliding or threaded contacts is the priority, Nitronic 60 warrants separate consideration. A similar pitting-resistance indicator also does not establish equivalent stress-corrosion behaviour between alloys.
Make the magnetic requirement measurable
Where low magnetic permeability is required, define measurement conditions and whether they apply to stock or the completed component. Welded assemblies need separate assessment. S20910 and the related European designation 1.3964 should not be treated as automatically identical chemistry; select the governing specification, such as AMS 5764 for the bar family.
Typical application areas
Pump shafts, marine connections, components requiring low magnetic permeability.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request Nitronic 50 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
