PRECISION IN MATERIAL. CLARITY IN SUPPLY.

MARAGING

Maraging 300 / 1.6354 Steel

Maraging 300 is a specialized iron-nickel steel that develops high strength through ageing. Very low carbon supports machining in the initial condition; final strength is developed through subsequent precipitation hardening. Machining sequence, dimensional stability and toughness are considered together for precision load-bearing components.

Final strength differs from stock condition

An annealed Maraging 300 blank may not yet possess the finished aged component’s strength. Define processing before and after machining within one manufacturing plan. Consider small dimensional changes, thin walls and final grinding together to determine the stage at which precision will be achieved.

Similar names do not establish equivalence

C300, 18Ni300, 1.6354 and 1.6358 are encountered in commercial enquiries. Rather than merely listing these names together, select the governing specification and acceptance condition. Maraging 350 or a product made by a different manufacturing route is not a direct substitute simply because it belongs to the same family.

Bar and flat products require different documentation

AMS 6514 is used for a bar, forging and mechanical-tubing family; AMS 6521 is used for sheet, strip and plate. Include dimensions, melting requirements and delivery condition. Stainless behaviour should not be expected; coatings and other protective treatments are planned for the environment and final strength condition.

Typical application areas

Aerospace structural parts, highly loaded shafts, precision die components.

What to specify in your enquiry

  • Grade designation and applicable material standard
  • Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
  • Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements

Frequently asked questions

Can I request Maraging 300 in cut lengths?+

Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.

Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+

Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
