Plan machining and ageing together
The solution-treated condition allows machining and certain forming operations before subsequent ageing. Limited dimensional change during ageing benefits precision blanks, but does not mean zero movement. Define the remaining allowance and final inspection stage in advance for close tolerances.
250, 300 and 350 are not an overall quality ranking
The family numbers indicate different nominal strength classes. Moving to a higher class calls for reassessment of toughness, ductility and environment. Changing a drawing from 250 to 300 or 350 merely to obtain higher strength does not automatically preserve the other acceptance requirements.
Specify form and final condition
AMS 6512 for the bar and forging family and AMS 6520 for flat products are relevant examples. Include form, dimensions, annealed or aged delivery and documentation needs. Components exposed to corrosive environments require separate consideration of surface protection; the maraging designation does not establish corrosion immunity.
Typical application areas
Precision tooling components, actuator shafts, aerospace component blanks.

Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request Maraging 250 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
