Case and core require separate assessment
Case hardness and core hardness are different measurements in a carburized component. Wear and contact fatigue at the tooth flank and load-bearing behaviour at the tooth root create different requirements. A core tensile-test result should not be used to describe the entire performance of the hardened surface.
Melting route is separate from chemistry
AMS 6260 and AMS 6265 are encountered in the 9310 bar and forging family. The latter requires vacuum consumable-electrode remelting; similar chemistry does not demonstrate compliance with that production requirement. Mechanical-tubing coverage should also not be confused with pressure-pipe suitability.
Define the gear-blank enquiry clearly
Blank dimensions, a forging or bar preference, delivery condition and traceability needs form the starting point. State the properties required by the carburizing, final-grinding and inspection plans separately. 9310 is not stainless; lubrication and corrosion protection must also suit the finished component’s service conditions.
Typical application areas
Aerospace gears, pinions, power-transmission components.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request 9310 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
