Annealed stock and working condition
Annealed delivery supports machining of the die blank; working hardness is established through subsequent hardening and tempering. Heavy sections, cooling channels and surface geometry affect thermal stresses. Changing material alone does not eliminate poor cooling arrangements or crack initiation associated with machining marks.
Tool-steel standards and aerospace requirements
Although 1.2343 and H11 describe related products, chemistry and acceptance scope should be checked against the order. AMS 6487 requires vacuum remelting for a bar and forging family. Compliance with a general tool-steel standard does not automatically establish the same melting and inspection level.
Describe the die blank’s requirements
State blank dimensions, machining allowance, delivery hardness and melting requirements. Describing surface wear loads separately from thermal cycling helps selection. Legacy drawing specifications should be compared with current acceptance requirements; a code appearing in a catalogue is not a promise of current certification.
Typical application areas
Hot-forming tools, die components, specialized structural parts.
Product and cutting options
Share the section and dimensions you require for this grade. Availability is assessed for each request; the catalogue does not represent live stock.
What to specify in your enquiry
- Grade designation and applicable material standard
- Section, finished dimensions and machining allowance
- Quantity, delivery condition and certificate requirements
Frequently asked questions
Can I request H11 in cut lengths?+
Share your required section, dimensions and quantity. Our team will assess suitable supply and cutting options for the specific grade.
Are the listed grade designations interchangeable?+
Designation systems can overlap, but they do not make every specification identical. Use the exact standard and certificate requirements defined by your project.
