A PRACTICAL MATERIAL TOOL
Stainless steel weight calculator.
Choose the section and enter dimensions. See the approximate weight per metre, per piece and for the whole quantity.
Material dimensions
Enter all dimensions in millimetres. Decimal points and commas are accepted.
How is the weight calculated?
Approximate kg/m is calculated from the section dimensions. Weight per piece = kg/m × length (mm) ÷ 1000. Total weight = weight per piece × quantity.
diameter² × 0.0062 = kg/m- Weight per metre
- 9.92 kg/m
- Weight per piece
- 9.92 kg
An estimate for planning. Actual weight varies with grade, density, tolerances and surface condition.
From dimensions to a useful estimate.
This calculator estimates the mass of solid stainless steel round, hexagon, square and flat bars. It supports mm dimensions and a whole number of pieces. The result can be transferred to a quotation request with the material dimensions.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between kg/m and total kg?+
The weight of one metre of the selected section is expressed in kg/m. Piece weight uses the entered length; total weight also includes the number of pieces.
Are these exact delivery weights?+
No. The calculation uses approximate section factors. Grade density, actual dimensions, tolerances and surface condition can change the measured weight.
Which hexagon dimension should I enter?+
Enter across-flats size: the distance between two opposite parallel faces. Do not use the distance between opposite corners.
